You know you’re not supposed to drink your coffee and eat the chips from a vending machine, right?
Not everyone is convinced.
NPR’s Carrie Johnson, who lives in Philadelphia, says that in some places, toothpaste boosters are considered “the new black,” and that there are even warnings about using the products in places like restaurants and shopping centers.
So what do you do if you’ve heard that your dentist is recommending toothpaste?
“I’m like, ‘I have to have that.’
I just don’t know what to do,” says Johnson.
So she and her husband have started a website called The Toothpaste Booster Club.
The site is just a few years old but has already gained a following.
It includes links to more than 200 other blogs, including ones with similar titles, and Johnson says that she’s gotten a lot of good feedback.
“It’s a safe alternative, because it’s not a big risk.
You don’t need to have any sort of history of health problems.
It’s not even a drug, it’s just a toothbrush,” she says.
The website’s mission is to educate people about toothpastes and to share their own experiences with the products, and some people have used the site to share information about their dental health and their personal health goals.
But Johnson says some people are taking the toothpaste reviews more seriously.
“I don’t think that the toothbrush reviews are really helpful.
The reviews are just a marketing tool.
You know, there’s just no way that a dentist is going to want to use those reviews in a public forum to try to sell a product,” she explains.
“They’re just not going to be as well received as they could be.”
The biggest concern for Johnson and others is that the reviews don’t take into account the different types of products available.
“For example, toothpasté and toothpaste are sold by the package, whereas some products like whitening are sold as an individually wrapped unit,” she adds.
“And you don’t see that on the website.
So it’s very hard to know what the actual information is on the reviews.”
The website is also a resource for people who want to learn more about toothpaste.
“People are really concerned about what they’re putting in their mouth,” says David Rees, who owns the website The Toothbrush Booster Club and is a practicing dentist.
“There’s a lot more information out there that’s not on the toothpaste or toothpaste page, and so there’s a great opportunity for people to learn from these products and learn what they think about them.”
Johnson and Rees say the site is a great place to start, because there are many different types and brands of toothpaste out there.
The company’s also partnered with some of the best toothpaste companies in the country, including Johnson’s dentist.
Rees says the site has been a big hit with his customers, with more than 30,000 visitors since it launched.
But some people aren’t happy with the site, and there are a few complaints that are starting to get noticed on social media.
“Some people have really, really negative things to say about The Toothpens Booster Club,” Rees explains.
Re, who’s also a dentist in North Carolina, says the comments are not all that negative.
“Most of the comments I see are people saying they’re going to boycott The Toothpastes Booster Club because of what’s happening with the website,” he says.
But he adds that it’s worth noting that the site doesn’t take a position on any particular toothpaste brand or brand of toothbrush.
“The bottom line is the comments that are coming in, the comments about the website, are just people expressing their opinion about the site.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
But that’s the nature of the business,” he adds.
Johnson and her co-founders say they’re open to any feedback that they get from their visitors.
“We’re not going out of our way to make it easy for people or to discourage people from doing it.
That wouldn’t be helpful,” Reys says.
“If you see people saying, ‘Oh, I want to buy a toothpasta and I’m not going anywhere with that,’ that’s fine.
But we also think that people should be educated, and we think that we can educate them as much as possible, so that they can make informed decisions about what to buy and when to buy it.”
Rees agrees, saying that the website is a place to share what’s going on in the toothbrushing world, and he thinks that its important to educate others as well.
