Whitening your teeth with luminescent tooth whiteners can help prevent cavities, according to a new study.
The researchers found that lumineras are the best choice for those with whitening problems, although they have limitations.
“They are not perfect, but they do have a good safety profile, and they are safe for use for a short time,” said Dr Caroline Boon, a dentist at King’s College London.
“It’s an important option, especially for those who have a tooth problem, as they can provide relief without using a toothbrush.”
Dr Boon said tooth whitener brands were starting to emerge, which were promising for both health and aesthetic reasons.
“There’s a huge amount of interest in using a lumenum for the treatment of whitening issues,” she said.
“This has the potential to revolutionise the way we treat whitening in dentistry, which could have huge effects on the way dentists treat patients and dentists perform their duties.”
